A Weekend In Mexico
My husband's college friends have been planning a trip to Mexico since December of last year. We have been asked time and again to join, but since day one we were "definitely out" given our epic (and expensive) honeymoon in St. Lucia this past March. But just a week after getting back home from our week in paradise this past March, the travel bug bit and we had to say yes.
This was our first experience using BookIt.Com and I have to say, we were really pleased with the deal we got at the Catalonia Royal Tulum. It's an adult only all inclusive resort, and was perfect for a fun and laid-back weekend. Disclaimer: We were absolutely spoiled rotten at the Viceroy Sugar Beach in St. Lucia for our honeymoon, and are probably the worst two people to ask to review any other resort at this point. Sugar Beach set the bar high!
With that said, we were still pleased with Catalonia. It's definitely more of a "budget resort" - the food wasn't too impressive and the rooms were okay, but the price was fantastic, the beach was beautiful and there was a little restaurant/bar a short walk down the beach that was a ton of fun complete with delicious margaritas, the best shrimp tacos, and swings instead of stools at the bar. The resort was the perfect spot for a large group of people (6 couples total!) to hang and have a fun weekend.
The boys stayed entertained by playing on the beach like their good ol' college days. There was even a "beach hunger games" in which the guys competed with each other in various sand and water activities; think dramatic beach volleyball and paddle ball tournaments, and a swim out and back in the sea. As you can imagine, this provided plenty of entertainment for the ladies on the trip. Nothin' like watching your men act like boys. Ha!
It was a really fun weekend and we enjoyed the short two full days we spent on the beach. We woke up at 3:00 am today to catch our flight back this morning, so needless to say we will be celebrating Cinco de Sleepo in our household this evening and passing on another margarita. But before we get some shut eye and re-group from our weekend whirlwind, I wanted to share some of our photos!
Have you been to Mexico? Where did you stay?
